BETWEEN the two of them David Coker and Ron Hester have notched up 100 years of service in the High Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir.

Mr Coker and Mr Hester have celebrated their 50th anniversary with the choir this month after joining in January 1951.

John Beadle, spokesman for the choir, said: "The choir extends its warmest congratulations to both and hope we shall enjoy their company for many more years."

Second bass player Mr Coker has lived in High Wycombe all his life, served in the RAF as a Spitfire pilot and worked as a foreman at Broom and Wade.

First bass Mr Hester was a JP and chairman of the magistrates' bench for many years .

The choir meets every Wednesday at 7.45pm at the Wesley Methodist Church in Priory Road, High Wycombe.
