A SHOPKEEPER who was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver has voiced his anger at the treatment he received at Wycombe Hospital.

Gurmej Dhillon, 56, owner of R K News and Off-Licence, London Road, High Wycombe, managed to stop a man from emptying his till by fending him off with a cricket bat.

But during the attack, grandfather Mr Dhillon was threatened with a screwdriver and received a cut to his head requiring eight stitches.

The attempted robbery happened at around 9.30pm on Sunday, December 17 and Mr Dhillon was taken to Wycombe Hospital's Accident and Emergency department to have the wound treated.

He said: "I am very angry with the hospital because I had to wait five hours for my stitches and they didn't do the job properly.

"I went to the doctor three days later and he said I had got an infection. They didn't clean it and I am very angry with them."

Spokesman for South Bucks NHS Trust Martin Leaver said: "We are sorry that Mr Dhillon had to wait so long. Sundays are our busiest times. We are having to nurse extremely sick patients in the Accident and Emergency Department and we have to prioritise patients as best we can.

"We would be happy to see Mr Dhillon again if he has any concerns about his injury."
