RYMAN Division One leaders Thame United return to league action on Saturday for the first time since December 23.

The Oxfordshire side have suffered a series of postponements over Christmas and the New Year and have seen their lead at the top cut to eight points while other teams have taken advatange of their inactivity.

United return to action on Saturday with an away match at Wealdstone, who they have already beaten twice this season, in the league and cup.

Thame boss Andy Sinnott organised a friendly at Premier Division Slough Town on Wednesday to help the team get over their rustiness.

He named a 17-man squad for the game and planned to give them all some part of the game to help them regain their sharpness for Saturday's game.

He said: "I wanted to arrange the game because after such a long time without playing you can be a bit sloppy.

"The result is immaterial. Slough was ideal because they are in the Premier Division.

"We needed a game. It's been frustrating not playing but on the other hand it has helped us. One benefit has been that it has given Mark West time to recover from his hamstring strain and it has also helped Mark Jones to get over his niggling knee injury."
