Colchester: Grammar school students are top-class speakers

Students from Colchester Royal Grammar School have continued their winning streak with yet another victory in the Senior Youth Speaks Competition.

The contest, organised by the Rotary Club of Colchester Forum, attracted seven local schools, which entered teams from years 10 to 12.

But it was the Lexden Road grammar, winners of the past three annual events, which will represent the town at the Essex finals in Chelmsford on February 11.

Addressing a packed council chamber at Colchester town hall, speaker Daniel South argued that ‘Experts should be on tap, not on top’.

He was introduced by team chairman Joshua Creek and the vote of thanks was given by Rosie McLeod.
