A BUSY roundabout is set to reopen on Friday evening.
The Southway roundabout which links Lexden Road, Maldon Road, Balkerne Hill and Southway in Colchester has been down to one-lane since a water main burst on Monday morning.
The problem caused traffic misery on Monday with motorists reporting it had taken an hour to travel just three miles, and delays have continued throughout the week at peak times.
Anglian Water have now completed repair works but still need time to clear away equipment.
A spokesman for the company said: “Road users in and around Colchester roundabout – thank you for your patience while we fixed the repair.
“We are happy to advise engineering works are now all complete, however we are currently clearing equipment, grass seeding and road sweeping to get everything cleared up.
“We are hoping this is all completed by Friday evening.
“Again, we are really sorry we’ve inconvenienced you and thanks for your continued patience.”
