AN American-style restaurant and bar has revealed it will be opening in a new leisure quarter in Stanway – if the development gets the go-ahead.

Coast to Coast is the latest chain to announce it would like to be part of the Stane Park development, creating 40 jobs.

Nando’s, Bella Italia and pub chain McMullens have already signed up, with two more big names still to be confirmed.

Coast to Coast has 15 sites across the UK, serving American food and cocktails.

Jonny Buckle, head of acquisitions at the Restaurant Group, which operates Coast to Coast, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of the Stane Park development.

“The leisure quarter looks set to become a real community hub for the Stanway area and it’s the perfect location for our style of restaurant.”

The planning application for the site, which will include a total of six units, will go in front of Colchester Council’s planning committee in September.

The development, which will include a car park, open space and a children’s play area, is expected to create 245 jobs.

Stephen Clark, managing director of developer Churchmanor Estates, said: “We’re delighted Coast to Coast will be joining us at the Stane Park leisure quarter.

“The restaurant’s relaxed and sophisticated dining experience is the perfect match for our development.”

The site is next to the Wyvern Farm, where 350 new homes are due to be built.

Residents voiced concerns about increased traffic at a public consultation earlier this year, but developers argued their busy periods would not be during rush hour. Access will be from the roundabout opposite Sainsbury’s.

Churchmanor Estates has agreed to pay to widen London Road close to the roundabout to ease congestion.
