PLANS to liven up the pedestrian route between Colchester Station and the town centre will go before the public tomorrow.

Train operator Abellio Greater Anglia has asked designers Dallas Pierce Quintero to come up with ideas for the Fixing the Link project.

The designers will be at Colchester Station, the Octagon building, Middleborough and the Albert pub, Cowdray Avenue, to talk through their ideas and listen to people’s views.

Essex County Council and Colchester Council are working on the consultation with Abellio Greater Anglia.

Dominic Graham, Colchester councillor responsible for Street and Waste services, said: “The project will help to improve the route to the town centre, enhance the welcome to Colchester and ensure visitors can easily find their way.

“We would like to hear the views of residents, commuters and businesses on the initial ideas developed by the designers and would encourage people to pop along to the consultation events.”

Abellio Greater Anglia’s partnerships manager Geraint Hughes said: “We are pleased Colchester is the first location in the UK to benefit from our Fixing the Link approach and we look forward to some of these innovative ideas being implemented later in the year.”

The consultation will take place at the station for those arriving in Colchester.

It will be at the Octagon between 2pm and 4pm and the Albert pub between 5pm and 7pm.
