VANDALS damaged a sports building months after it was built.
Wooden panels on Mersea Island Rugby Club changing rooms at the Glebe have been ripped off. Mersea Island Town Council is considering installing a fence at the site.
Dave Breden, club chairman, said: “It is very frustrating. It appears teenagers are trying to knock off the light by kicking balls against it or just ripping off panels.”
The shower block and changing rooms were opened this season after a £50,000 grant from Sport England and £18,000 from Essex County Council. The town council has reported the damage to police.
