A MOTHER has spoken out after her son was brutally attacked in Colchester town centre.

Alan Parker’s head was stamped on repeatedly during the assault near the Vineyard Street car park.

He is recovering at his mum’s home, so she can care for him.

Carol Parker, from Shrub End, said: “Alan has multiple fractures to his face.

“He had a blood clot and a bleed through the eye. He can’t lift his arm.”

The 25-year-old scaffolder, who lives in Stanway, was beaten at about 2am on Saturday, December 6.

Mrs Parker said: “He was taken to Colchester Hospital and transferred to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, because of his facial injuries.

“Alan does not remember anything after they started attacking him.

“He was just walking with his friend and then woke in hospital.

“The last thing Alan remembers is a group of lads swinging leather belts.

“His friend was hit with a belt, but was not badly hurt and then they turned on him. It is disgusting.”

Mrs Parker hopes CCTV images will help find the culprits.

She described the moment she was told about the assault.

“I got a call from his girlfriend at about 3.30am,” she said.

“His friend had called her and she called to say Alan was in hospital, so I went straight there.”

Alan will be unable to work again this year.

Mrs Parker said: “His vision is still blurry in one eye, but they think he will get his sight back.

“He still may need to have surgery. We are waiting to hear from the hospital.”

She added: “It is just not right. These things seem to be happening a lot in town.”

Anybody with information is urged to contact Det Con Andrea Ford, at Colchester CID, on Essex Police 101.
