More than 350 villagers attended an exhibition of controversial plans to build 145 homes.
Taylor Wimpey unveiled its proposals for an estate between Cockaynes Lane and Station Road, Alresford.
Many voiced fears at the village hall exhibition that Alresford’s roads would be unable to cope with the rise in traffic.
Olive Sander, of Oak Tree Road, said: "I have nothing against the estate as such – it looks like it is quite well set out, but it shouldn’t be in this village.
"All the roads and pavements are too narrow and Cockaynes Lane is only one car’s width, so they won’t be able to pass one another."
