BUSINESS owners have thanked the Gazette for helping in their fight for justice.
Four units on Stanway’s Angora Business Park were broken into overnight between August 26 and 27.
About £40,000 in tools, stock and a one-of-a-kind motocross bike were stolen.
The owners complained after the police had not visited them to take a statement two weeks after the incident. Soon after the Gazette approached the police for a comment on the lack of response, an officer visited the victims.
Rachel Scarlett, of BHP Motorsport, who launched an appeal online and in the press after a slow response from officers, said: “We cannot thank the Gazette enough.”
Chief Insp Richard Phillibrown, district commander for Colchester, confirmed he sent officers around to get more details on Wednesday.
He said: “There have been concerns raised insufficient details have been taken. While I cannot disclose the details of the investigation, I would like to reassure the public we are investigating these offences.”
