Tributes to lecturer who killed herself after junkie neighbour dispute
TRIBUTES have been paid to a university lecturer who killed herself after a prolonged dispute with junkie neighbours.
Dr Suzanne Dow, 33, took her own life after neighbours made her life hell with threats and drug parties.
Miss Dow, who was born and raised in Colchester, took an overdose of pills at her home, in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, on October 3 2011.
An inquest was held on Friday and a verdict of suicide was recorded.
Exclusive family tributes in Tuesday's Colchester Gazette.

I appreciate that this case happened up in Nottingham.
I read the story an d the coroners comments about how the police and the local council had failed to act in the national press.
It was a disgrace how the local council and police dealt with the matter.
I have experienced similar abuse to Dr Dow and that is why I'm leaving Greenstead.
The people at Colchester Borough Council, Colchester Borough Homes and Essex Police should be forced to read the coroner's report on this case because they don't regard the matter of having to live next door to anti-social behaviour and drug dealing scumbags very seriously.
There are numerous cases around Colchester of people suffering dreadful anti-social behaviour and what do the council and Colchester Borough Homes do about it?
They do nothing and instead they regard it as a simple lifestyle issue.
Funny though if someone was to behave in a similar lifestyle issue manner at the offices of CBC or CBH they'd be quick enough to call the police.
I know what I'm saying probably won't change anything but I hope the following advice will be of help anyone suffering anti-social behaviour :
1) Don't waste your time complaining to the council or CBH. They will only waste your time with filling in diary sheets and mediation ( who wants to mediate with scum) just focus on earning as much as you can and move to a better area.
2) Never, ever think about taking your own life. The scumbags causing you the trouble and the council officials who are failing to help you aren't worth a minute of your life. Again just focus on the solution (i.e work harder earn more moeny and move).
CBH and CBC are a waste of time when it comes to dealing with anti-social behaviour and I know it from experience and so do they but they will never admit it.
Once again RIP Dr Dow - my thought are with you and your family and friends.

RIP Dr Dow.

Totally agree with your points on CBC and CBH. which both have abysmal records dealing with their nuisance tenants.
Hope you find somewhere quiet soon.
R.I.P. Dr. Dow.

.
Sadly, the exhaustion and alienation caused by these destructive people is such that the victims become very weary, and it is ever harder to work and concentrate.
.
My thoughts and hopes are with all who suffer in this way, I hope that solutions will be found more speedily in the future.

When we lived on Greenstead, we too lived next door to junkies and anti social people. Called the police out so many times. If they could be bothered to come out. They just stood there and made jokes with them.(probably getting a score too).
Council said they would issue red warn
ings to them. Did they do it?
No... The people are still there and still up to the same old tricks.
They have even broken into vehicles and stolen things from them. But the police will not do a thing, because there is no film of them doing it.
Well we all know what happens if there was. CPS will still let them off.
They want to put up council tax and bleed us for more. Yet they are not prepared to do a thing about this sort of people
