EMPLOYERS have been meeting with health authorities to work out how to help their fat and unhealthy employees.

Bosses in the east of England are promoting staying healthy at work week, and have been getting help from NHS experts to make employees healthier, to reduce sick days and increase profits.

About £1 million people nationally report sick each week.

In the east almost 20 per cent of people smoke and drink more than alcohol than is recommended.

More than two in five men are overweight and almost a third of women.

Fit and healthy employees take 27 per cent less days off than the fat and unhealthy ones so businesses are keen to promote the scheme.
