More than 150 people turn out to mark church's milestone

MORE than 150 people turned out to mark the twentieth anniversary of a Highwoods church.

Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Chelmsford Rt Revd, also joined worshippers to celebrate the milestone of St Luke’s church, based in the St John’s and Highwoods Community Centre, in Highwoods Square.

The service also marked the creation of a new Church of England parish of Highwoods.
Revd Jeremy Noles was installed as vicar, with wife Gill Noles as curate.

Rev Noles said: “It was a great service.

“We had a great turnout and some very special guests. It was a great way to mark the double celebration.”

Revd Brian Nicholson, vicar of St John’s was also present alongside Rt Revd Stephen Cottrell.

The pair joined borough councillors Beverley and Gerard Oxford, representatives from Highwoods schools and Highwoods PCSOs.
