Mental health nurse accused of Nazi salutes

A MISCONDUCT hearing against a mental health nurse accused of performing a Nazi salute begins today.

Stephen Johnson faces eight charges before the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) today.

Johnson, a deputy ward manager for the North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust when the alleged incidents happened between January 2008 and October 2009, is also alleged to have behaved inappropriately towards a colleague including trying to kiss her while at Severall's House, in Boxted Road, Colchester.

Other charges include touching a patient's and colleague's genitals, referring to a colleague as "Hamas" and/or "Hezbollah", and telling the same colleague "BNP go home" while doing a Nazi salute.

The hearing, which takes place in London, is expected to last until Friday.
