Crime spree hits town centre

HIGH street shops have been hit by a burglary spree in Clacton.

Thieves have targeted shops and restaurants in the seaside town 27 times in just two months.

Police have started carrying out targeted patrols to cut the rise in burglaries, which have mainly seen cash and charity boxes stolen.

The Lunch Box, Beds Centres and Crispins Sandwich Bar are just three places to be hit by the crooks.

Shop owners have been warned not to keep large amounts of cash on the premises, secure the buildings and to consider extra security.

They have also told people to remove all valuables from their cars.

If you have any information on burglaries in Clacton contact police on 101.

All we need is a group of people who have been trained in law enforcement to put together an operation to combat and catch the offenders ............ if only we had such an organization in the area!

Can't say i'm surprised anymore.
What with the reduction in frontline forces to make savings for the Government and the fact that crime is on the up, it was bound to happen.
The whole country has become a victim of too many cuts too fast.
The police must be absolutely stretched to the limit at present.
The only good thing to come out of this seems to be the fact that we now have more rights against burglars at home.

What a good idea. Can't we form one? I agree the police must be stretched to the limit with all the cuts (although the crime figures just announced say crime is down) and I for one wouldn't like to know they weren't around. These low lifes don't understand that most of these businesses are struggling to survive themselves. Perhaps we need more drug rehabilitation centres instead of jails??
