Metal thieves blown away by Op Tornado

METAL theft has been cut in half after a major nationwide crackdown.
Operation Tornado has blown away the criminals following roadside stop checks, visits to scrapyards and increased patrols.
Essex had the worst record in the country with memorial plaques, children’s play equipment, and church and school roofs among items taken.
However officers are now delighted with the success of the operation.
