A MOTHER and her children were showered with glass when a rock was thrown at her car on the A120.

Jo Kent, 41, was taking her children Matthew, eight, and William, 12, home to Lawford from their swimming lesson at Dovercourt Pool at around 8.15pm on Sunday night, October 14, when something hit the windscreen of her black Ford S-Max.

Mrs Kent thought a gun had been fired at her car near the Harwich Road turn-off to Wix when the windscreen cracked and sprayed glass.

Shards covered the inside of the car near 8.15pm and some even made it to the back seat where Matthew was sitting.

Sergeant Peter Gerrard from Essex Police said another incident happened at 8.45pm on the same night damaging a man's bonnet.

Anyone with information should call Mistley Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Treat this crime as attempted murder and the scum who did it won't find it so funny.

Also the people who damage telephone lines, electricity sub-stations and railway lines should be treated as terrorists, in war-time these acts would be regarded as sabotage.

Totally agree unfortunately the majority of these people seem to never be caught. What would go through your mind to resort to throwing bricks at a car, it beggars belief. Thankfully all in the car where unhurt.

You cannot punish the morons responsible as it may breach their human rights. Why not give them a slap on the wrist and send them of to butlins for the week, that will teach them.

maybe if there was a police presence in the area these things wouldnt happen, maybe they checked the timetable printed in the paper of when the police were in the area and planned their activity accordingly.

I hope when the culprit is apprehended it will be treated as attempted murder; I am glad Mrs Kent is ok.

I was talking to a local copper about this and the police had about 5 calls that night about these incidents but still no one was found, but then if they are caught whats the point? I agree with GreensteadResident things need to get tougher for these thugs, this could have had dire consequences. Glad Jo and the kids are OK.
