£1.6 million revamp at Colchester Leisure World

LEISURE World is hoping a £1.6 million revamp will attract new customers.

Colchester Council said it will not raise prices above inflation to pay for the rennovation, instead relying on new users.

The plans for doubling the size of the gym, creating a new exercise class room and expanding the reception will go on show Friday.

See Friday's Gazette for pictures, plans and the full story.

Because we need more gyms? There's loads popping up. Why not invest in the poor excuse of a pool

Why did they do away with those children's classes that were so heavily oversubscribed?

The pool is absolute rubbish, expensive for a family of four, flumes which only open when they feel like it, very dangerous slippery floors, filthy dirty changing rooms - not to mention the lack of separate male/female changing areas

Spot on , we have now given up complaining to them, We have written , emailed and spoken directly to the manager about the appalling level of cleanliness but nothing ever improves. The gym does need expanding as it is always very busy but the reception is fine , spend the money on cleaners please

I take my daughter swimming in the learner pool and the classes are great. However, the changing rooms are disgusting and every week smell of urine. I often change my daughter in the viewing room as don't want to go in the changing rooms. Please sort this out before spending the money on a reception area that currently is fine.

Cleaners... I got athletes foot and verrucas from the changing rooms in the last year.

Also the changing rooms are getting prematurely aged by the kids swimming classes, they treat the place like a play ground and no one is there to keep an eye on them. Doors hanging off, chewing gum stuck on coat hooks, bent door frames...I could go on.

If it is as bad as you all say then the place should be shut, the health inspectors called in and managerial staff sacked.
Ewww dirty, dirty scum bags!

They only got a new roof cos the place was in danger of collapse if it snowed.

They covered up that bit of incompetence with a 'refit' of a few buckets pouring water.

I've stopped taking my kids to the swimming pool because they are always ill afterwards, maybe coincidence but most comments would lead me to believe i'm correct in the first instance.
