Call for later customer service line

A CALL for increased opening hours for Colchester Council’s customer service line has been made.

Conservative borough councillor Kevin Bentley made the request at a meeting of full council on Wednesday.

He said residents who work normal office hours find it very difficult to report problems to the council because lines are closed at 5pm.

He said: “For our residents who work between 9am and 5pm, many of whom do not get home perhaps until 6pm, a customer service line which is only accessible during office hours is not adequate.”

Anne Turrell, leader of Colchester Council, said: “That is something we will look at.”

What a muppet. The opening hours were cut 18 months ago. From 5:30 to 5:00 for two reasons. It saved money anf hardly anyone called after 5pm.

do some research

The Captain is right. Hasn't the portly one heard about the cuts? It's his party which is imposing them.
Most people take their mobiles to work and are able to make calls like this during their breaks.
Thousands of people work in London and very few of them are home before 7 pm at the earliest.
