In today's Gazette: A man has been jailed for brutally beating his Jack Russell to death.
Christopher Keogh, 31, of Barfield Road, Colchester, admitted kicking and punching one-year-old Bambi and slamming her against a wall before dumping the bloodied body in a bin.
* Olympic swimming star Rebecca Adlington has spoken in glowing terms of the new children's mental health unit.
The four-times Olympic medallist said she had been delighted to open the £9.6 million St Aubyn Centre in Boxted Road, Colchester.
* An evening with TV gardeing guru Alan Titchmarsh came up trumps for Colchester Samaritans. The celebrity appeared at an event in Coggeshall which raised £5,000 for the charity.
* A father has vowed to never rest until his son's killers are brought to justice. Stafford Whiston said the police were doing everything they could following the death of his son, Jay, 17. He said: "Whoever did this is still walking the streets."

Seen him about town with all the other low life scum drinking themselves to death slowly, hopefully while he's in jail someone will stamp on his head!
