THERE will be a familiar sight for one Colchester photographer in next year’s Co-op calendar.

Teenager James Channon’s Hilly Field was chosen as the July image for the 2013 East of England Co-operative Society’s calendar.

The society holds the competition every year to create the calendar, using images which reflect Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

James, a Colchester Sixth Form student, 17, said: “I particularly liked this picture because of the golden rays of sunlight shining through the trees.”

Pensioner David Coppen’s image was also selected for May.

Mr Coppen, 70, from Braintree, took his shot while walking through Thetford Forest.

Photographers were invited to submit their favourite photos, depicting the woodland scenes theme.

Amanda Long, of the East of England Co-operative Society, said: “I’d like to congratulate all of our winners on such creatively captured images and encourage people to pick up a copy of the calendar so they can share in admiring the amazingly beautiful woodland we are lucky to have in this region.”

The calendar is now available in Co-op stores in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
