Garrison commander given NHS role

A FORMER Colchester Garrison commander has joined the board of the NHS trust which runs Colchester General Hospital and Essex County Hospital.

Tom Fleetwood, whose 34-year career saw him serve in Iraq, Northern Ireland and the Falkland Islands, replaces Anna Bradley as a non-executive director.

The Mersea Island resident will be paid £11,000 a year for at least the next three years and will help set the overall agenda for the trust and ensure it offers the right health services to north Essex.

Mr Fleetwood, 53, left the army in February this year after serving three years as Commander of Colchester Garrison.
