Abseiling gran raises thousands for charity
11:52am Monday 15th October 2012 in News By James Cox
AN ABSEILING great-grandmother has raised thousands for charity.
Laurel Tripp-Clarke descended Colchester Town Hall on her 70th birthday on September 14.
She raised more than £2,300 for the feat, with money going to Support After Murder and Manslaughter (SAMM).
As well as conquering her own fear of heights, Mrs Tripp-Clarke, dedicated the daredevil stunt to the memory of her brother, Kevin Tripp.
He was killed in a case of mistaken identity after a thug punched him while he stood in a supermarket queue in 2008.
Mrs Tripp-Clarke said: "I want to thank all those who supported and contributed in making my abseil a huge success."
