Heritage group calls for action on Brook House
5:00pm Monday 8th October 2012 in News
A NATIONAL Heritage boss has called for agreement to be reached on a historic building which has lay derelict for 25 years.
Brook House, a Grade-II listed building, in Maldon Road, Tiptree, has become a target for antisocial behaviour and parish councillors had hoped money would be made available by Colchester Council to pay for repairs.
But they have been told no funding is available.
Rhiannon Wicks, of Save Britain’s Heritage, said: “It is part of the area’s history and is absolutely essential that it is preserved.
“We take a keen interest in Brook House and have put it on the Buildings at Risk register.
“The longer it is left, the more possible loss of the historic fabric of Colchester and I would urge all parties to agree on a way forward.”

CBC is entitled to order the owner to repair a listed building at his own expense, but it seems it does not take this responsibility seriously.
