In today's Gazette: Ram raiders stole thousands of pounds of equipment in a smash and grab at a music shop.

The burglars ploughed an Audi A4 through the security shutters at Total Music off Axial Way, Colchester.

* Ipswich Town striker Michael Chopra has been charged with race-fixing by the British Horseracing Authority.

Chopra, 28, is one of nine people to have been charged with offering bribes to jockey Andrew Heffernan.

* Former soldier Robert Santangelo, who pocketed money he was collecting for Help for Heroes, has avoided a prison sentence.

* A man has admitted killing former Essex rector the Rev John Suddards. Stephen Farrow, 48, admitted manslaughter but denies murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
