Kitesurfer rescued by lifeboat crew near Clacton

AN exhausted kitesurfer was rescued by lifeboat volunteers after he was spotted struggling in the sea near Martello Bay in Clacton.

The man, in his 40s, was trying to swim back to shore with his rigging at about 10.20am on Sunday.

Clacton RNLI was alerted and the David Porter MPS lifeboat was diverted from a training exercise in near Brightlingsea to help the kitesurfer.

Senior Helmsman Tim Dye said: "Sea conditions were moderate, but it was quite windy.

"The man was tired and exhausted, but did not need any medical attention.

"We pulled him into the boat and dropped him off at the beach."
