Clacton man seriously injured after glass attack

A MAN was seriously injured after trying to break up an argument in Clacton.

The victim, his girlfriend and a male friend, all in their 20s, tried to calm down an argument between a man and woman on Pier Avenue.

The pair turned on the group and attacked them, seriously injuring one of the men.

He suffered serious cuts to his head and leg, and may require surgery.

It is believed broken glass may have been used to cause the injuries.

The victim is still in hospital but is in a stable condition.

The incident happened on Pier Avenue at about 1am on Sunday.

Det Sgt Jules Coles said: “It was an extremely nasty attack on people who were just trying to help and we want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or from anyone who can identify the man and woman involved.”

The woman was in her late teens, about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build, with shoulder-length brown hair.

She was wearing a dress that was high at the front, low at the back and with a zip on the front.

The top part of the dress was white and the lower section of a dark colour. She was also wearing black high-heel shoes.

The man was white, skinny, about the same height and in his late teens or early 20s.

Anyone with information should contact officers at Clacton on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Personally I would not get involved in what was probably just a domestic argument - better to mentally note what was going on and report the matter to the police should the need arise.

Been there, done that. I tried to help a girl once, who was being beaten & kicked by a guy. I dragged him off her & punched him, only to turn around & get smacked in the face with her handbag. I really think that she had a brick in there.
Anyway. Sorry girls, but you won't get any assistance from me again. I'll just walk on by...

if i were to see an argument, i would be very wary. there have been so many "arguments" reported where it is just a scam to see who would come to their aid and then attack the innocent. there was a incident a few years back in Norwich.
hope the guy gets well soon and doesn't suffer to much from this terrible attach

Those who are 16-24 and not in education, employment or training, need something to be proud of, need a sense of achievement, a sense of self worth, and a sense of direction. National Conscription would do all of these things. At the same time, they could learn a trade/skill like engineering. it would boost the numbers of the Reservists and the TA. So if anyone aged 16-24 who were a NEET - (not in education/employment
/training), then this would be the next option. If they are not qualified for Uni, then let the Services mold them. This would alleviate boredom, anti social behavior, the potential for riot, and would give our youth a much needed change of attitude and perception in the the community. It would be partly funded by redirecting their Job-seeker Allowance / ESA to cover some of the training costs. If you agree with these sentiments got to: http://epetitions.di

Well I happen to know the people involved and think it is very disrespectful to say it's there fault for trying to break it up. They were just minding their own business walking home and the girl decided to start on my friend thinking it would be a girl on girl fight and so the two lads stepped in when she started brandishing a broken bottle which is when he got injured. It was very lucky he wasn't killed because they nearly hit his main artery in his leg. So please keep your opinions to yourself if you don't know the full story

here here, most of the comments do seem to turn into a slagging match between morons who have nothing constructive to say on the subject so my words are grow up!

I didn’t see this as it has been suggested by a troll on hear but I did hear the helicopter flying round, one tends to ignore this as they get I up and flying for next to nothing nowadays instead of real street policing, but I did wake up and find it worrying that I slept though the whole thing virtually under my window when I looked out and saw the police cars and tape.

Me too Crazyt - Not to mention them bombarding this site with multiple messages which ends up closing the subject page - usually when someone complains about their childish behaviour or when they see an opinion they don't agree with, so childish. I'm surprised The Gazette cant record their IP addresses so they cant obtain new usernames

Well done for writing this piece peachey. I totally agree with you. Everyone is entitled to their opinion without getting into a slanging match. And to London lad - totally agree and will take a look at the website. It saddens me that people think they can just go around hurting people. Hope the injured man is recovering and if anyone is bothered thank you for trying to protect the innocent.

To be clear - I left my comments, as it saddens me that the town I chose to make my home twenty five years ago has changed so much. In my time here the number of unsolved murders must be above the national average. In this day and age, if we do not give our youngsters some self worth then we are letting an entire generation down. I would urge anyone who has nothing constructive to add to this argument to vent their useless comments elsewhere. My adding an e-petition is a serious attempt to get our Government to at least discuss the issue of our youth at the highest levels. I would urge anyone who reads this (and my earlier comment), to go my epetition at: http://epetitions.di
rect.gov.uk/petition
s/37363, and sign it. Feel free to add it to your Facebook and Twitter pages and get it out there for more signatures. You may in time be able to say "I helped that happen!" and maybe - just maybe - we can start to lift our heads with pride again. I sincerely hope the man involved is making a good recovery and that the mindless idiots are caught and dealt with accordingly.

Signed the epetition London lad. Unfortunately although we all reside in Clacton the trouble is wide spread and I agree that the time has come for us to be able to hold our heads up again and with pride say "we're English"!!! and the only way forward is for us to help our misguided youth to lead a better life. I think that 12 months in the forces is a brilliant start - no state benefits just good hard work and learn a skill along the way.
