Tories slam new move on activity centre

OPPOSITION councillors have hit out after the future of a community centre was again thrown into doubt.
Colchester Council has asked groups to step forward to take over the running of Abbots Activity Centre.
Social housing provider Colne Housing was last year picked to take over the centre in Ladbrook Drive after the council said it could no longer afford to subsidise it.
For the past nine months, Colne has carried out feasibility studies and consultations to see if the centre could become financially viable.
Now it has said in order to run the centre, it would need start-up funding.
As a result, the council is again asking interested parties to come forward and is offering grants totalling more than £100,000 over the next three years to get the centre up and running.
But the Conservative group on the council slammed the latest development describing the situation as “an absolute shambles”.
Group leader Will Quince said the group planned to call in the administration’s decision for scrutiny.

Are these the same Tories who want to privatise everything and then charge us a fortune in the future for example the railways, buses, gas, electricity to name but four examples?
