TRIBUTES have been paid to the son of former Arsenal and Ipswich Town footballer Chris Kiwomya who has died suddenly.
Lucas Kiwomya, seven, a pupil at Highfields School in Lawford, Essex, was taken to Colchester General Hospital on Wednesday after suffering breathing difficulties. He died shortly after arrival.
A spokesman for Highfields School in Colchester Road said: "We are all devastated at Highfields by the sudden and untimely death of a much respected and well-loved pupil.
"Lucas was a delightful boy, with a ready smile and infectious giggle.
"He loved school and was always keen to do his best. He will be very sadly missed by staff and pupils alike."
A spokesman for Ipswich Town said: "Our thoughts are with Chris and his family at this very sad time."
A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics attempted to save Lucas after being called at 7.13pm on Wednesday to his home in Lawford.
Kiwomya, 42, born in Yorkshire, is currently the development squad manager at League One side Notts County.
The striker played 335 games and scored 79 goals during his career. He also played for the England under 21 team.

the love of our children knows no bounds,
but its the younger ones we love so much.
the horrid thoughts of ever losing one of my grand children would be heartbreaking.
so I can only Imagine just how a parent must feel for there sad loss.
