Train staff scoop surprise award
COLCHESTER train station staff are celebrating after scooping a surprise award.
The team at Colchester North Station picked up a special contribution award in the transport category in this year’s Colchester in Bloom awards, held on Sunday.
It was recognised by the committee for its flower planters and hanging baskets which are in place around the station.
Pam Schomberg, chair of Colchester in Bloom, said: “On entering the station the floral displays make a huge impression and provide lots of seasonal colour for the enjoyment of customers and staff alike.
“I’d like to thank the Colchester station staff for tending the flowers at the station so carefully and congratulate them on their award.
Sham Rashid, Greater Anglia’s area customer service manager, added: “The award came as a great surprise to us and I am delighted that the team at Colchester has received this recognition.”

Before people come on having a go at the train services, remember the staff at the station don´t have control over your train being delayed! All they can do is look after the station.
Well done to these guys, it´s good to see they get some sort of recognition.
