No, Longridge is a road in Longridge Park it is not a road in Greenstead. Longridge Park was built in the 1980s.
Greenstead Estate was built in the 1950s and 1960s and extended in the 1970s.

I have lived in an around Colchester for 47 years and I can tell you there are far worse places to live such as Barnhall and Monkwick. Even places like Lexden have their problems!

just read todays gazette of horid stories elsewhere in colchester.

you have to recognise problems and deal with them accordingly.that might not suit some sections of the community but we can't have no go area's.

It's definitely not the same place as Greenstead. Greenstead ends when Longridge begins.
Check the size & design of the houses in the two areas and then see the contrast.

local residents to our friends last arrival must know who this highly insulting blackman is, and should tell the somewhat "offbalanced" disabled blackman of our reason for being there...

was I disapointed, no, not really.

we were at the wrong place,
at the wrong time,
for the quite clearly unbalanced disabled blackman to vent his built up anger at...

Who is this 'blackman'? Is it the person's surname?

this 'blackman' goes by the name of martin lewis he is 'shot to pieces' so to speak. i grew up in greenstead and was as crazy and abbusive then except he was on foot and very able to chase you. i remeber being in juinior school (st andrews) and he got arrested on the field oppisite for masturbating outside the school. cant believe hes still going about.

I always knew who this guy is (if not his actual name), you could hardly not notice him around Colchester. He clearly has a lot of problems. But 'blackman' (sic) as one word can only be a surname. And the fact somebody needed to reference the guy's skin colour not once, but use the word 'blackman' (sic) three times, seems to say a lot about that contributor.

This guy is well known around the town, and others have named him. The fact that one person there is this way doesn´t mean you can judge a whole estate by it. I grew up in a place pretty similar to Greenstead, and it had just as bad a reputation, but often, it would turn out the people saying these things had never actually been there!

The fact that this guy is black, white or whatever is not that important, there are people of all colours who have problems.

Martin is indeed a sad case. He has a long history of this sort of thing. But it is our duty to deal with him as best we can, as we would any other person who needs care in the community.

This is totally out of order of you, Sdapeze. I am not meant to agree with what you're saying, it's not the natural order of things. But if you continue to insist on posting this reasoned, rational, decent, woolly minded, liberal, stuff, how can I argue? It just isn't fair Sdapeze. Play the game!

the estate is the same as simular estates all over the country in style and layout.
Its a one design fits all for the then old council housing estates.
I can only speak of a few simular estates miles away from Greenstead,
but its residents on the whole are warm, welcoming, and generous to those who approach them.
Greenstead is the same.
notwithstanding, you get "wrong `ens" in any housing areas, be they private, tennented, or housing assocation.
We read of the actions of ex pig farmers in spacous bungalows who do time while working for us, would he be thought of as failing because of his homes location, or do we expect it only from Greensteads residents.
We read of multi billionairs who defraud, Councillors who defraud,
so please all, dont point fingers.
