A HEAVEN’S Mercy seat has been set in a church gardens thanks to teamwork by a number of groups.

The bench was rescued from a previous site by Amanda Church of Groundwork East of England, who approached the church and Colchester Council to see if it could be placed in the Priory Gardens at St Botolph’s.

The church welcomed the project and helped facilitate the works supported by church warden David Poppleton.

Volunteers from the Christian charity GO4 Enterprises installed the bench, overseen by the council street services team and sponsored by Marks and Spencers.

The Friends of St Botolph’s Church assisted with funding for building materials while shuttering for the base was supplied by Godland and Rudland Building Services.
