Residents to have their say on take-away plans

RESIDENTS are set to have their say on plans to turn a card shop into a fast-food take-away.

Proposals have been submitted to convert Celebrations, in St Christopher Road shops, into a take-away.

But Bob Dunston, chairman of St John’s Residents’ Association said the plans will come up against opposition from householders.

“I think the general view is that people would much prefer to see a green grocers or a hardware store before a fast-food place,” Mr Dunston said.

“We are already well-served in that way and it could be a waste of an outlet in a thriving row of shops.”

The association will be giving residents a chance to have their say in a survey next month.
Residents will be able to have their say until September 19.

Colchester Council must decide on the application by October 19.

After we moved to the area in 1965 the shops were built and we had a hardware shop and a greengrocers which both eventually closed down!
