Resurfaced road dug up days later
11:33am Thursday 30th August 2012 in News
ASTONISHED residents have spoken of their frustration at the waste of time and money after a newly laid road was dug up again just days later.
And they are furious as they claim it is the second time the same mistake has been made.
A few years ago Malting Green Road, in Layer-de-la-Haye, was resurfaced.
Days later it was dug up again because water pipes needed to be installed.
This week the same thing happened.
Essex County Council highways began working on the road on Thursday, August 23.
Then, on Wednesday part of the road was dug up again for a house gas supply to be installed.
A spokesman for Essex County Council said: ““This work programme had been set prior to the council being informed by National Grid that emergency gas works were required and it was too short notice for the council to change its own schedule."

This is utter madness!!!! it would have just taken a phone call to tell the workmen to not start resurfacing!! Why does everything take so long? When will common-sense prevail??
