Extra trains for ale drinkers

EXTRA trains will help ferry beer drinkers home from a real ale festival next week.

The 26th Chappel Beer Festival runs from Tuesday September 4 to Saturday September 8.

Organised by CAMRA the festival is held at the East Anglian Railway Museum, at Chappel and Wakes Colne station.

Extra trains will leave Chappel for Marks Tey at 11pm and 11.20pm, and from Chappel to Colchester at 11.40pm.

For more information, including prices and entry times, visit the Chappel beer festival website.

Shame they can't increase the number of trains for commuters then isn't it?

The main line has a maximum capacity at peak times. This is a branch line and they are talking about a few special trains in the late evening. if you are a commuter then these trains won't help you.

All lines are commuter lines. If you live in Chapel and want to get to Liverpool Street you will commute via Marks Tey.

I guess if the commuters filled the trains then there would be more. All these trains are packed during the beer festival making them financially viable.

This is a good idea, it does get quite busy at the end of the festival. And a great festival it is, in a great location! Highly recommend it to any ale lovers and non-ale lovers (nice fruit beers and ciders to tempt you) :)

Boris: it is not a branch line, it is a mere stub left from Beeching's era, like the charred remains of a fire.
