Police station transformed into shop
6:00pm Wednesday 8th August 2012 in News
Belinda Warburton
A FORMER police station has been given a new lease of life dealing in bracelets and earrings rather than handcuffs.
Belinda Warburton has opened an accessories shop in Wivenhoe’s High Street.
She is expanding Bee Accessorized, selling handbags, scarves and jewellery.
Belinda said: “I have always wanted to run my own business and was working full-time as a manager.
“I loved jewellery, but found so much of it too expensive, so I knew there was a market.
“It’s early days and people need to know I’m here, but the first week has been better than anticipated.”
The former police houses and station were bought by Wivenhoe Town Council after officers moved into a shared base at the town’s fire station.
In the long term the council hopes to turn the site into a community centre or new council offices.
