A BLOCK of flats was evacuated at 4am after a suspected fire alarm hoax.
Police are investigating the incident which happened at Rotary Way, Colchester on Saturday morning.
Two fire engines were called to the incident where a push panel was found to have been smashed in the hallway.
The 40 residents were allowed to return to their homes at 4.40am.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Essex Police on 101.
