IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: A SOLDIER was beaten and left for dead at Colchester Garrison.
The gunner, from 7 Para Royal Horse Artillery, was discovered with serious head injuries and was taken to Queen's Hospital in Romford.
Two men had been arrested on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm.
* A reward has been offered to catch the burlgars who stole mementoes of student Cassie McCord.
* A plumber has lost his van, business and part of his home in a fire.
* The family of a dad-of-three found dead in a churchyard have vowed to help the town's homeless in his memory.
