Charity events in memory of Robin, 24

Robin Freeman Robin Freeman

A FAMILY who founded a charitable trust have announced a host of fundraising events.

The Robin Cancer Trust was launched last month by the family of Robin Freeman who died, aged 24, from a form of germ cell cancer in December.

Brother Toby, 22, is the acting chairman of the group which hosts events to raise money for St Helena Hospice where Robin died.

It was officially launched at V-Bar’s Mayday Mayhem, which raised £1350 for the Trust.

A quiz night at the Wivenhoe activity and leisure day raised a further £400.

Now the family have announced a calendar of events for the coming year.

Toby said: “The response we have already had from people is overwhelming.

“Now I can’t wait for all our future events.”

A football game between Wivenhoe Old Boys FC and Colchester United Supporters Association will take place in Robin’s memory at Broad Lane, Wivenhoe, on June 9.

The event also features a raffle, quiz and auction.

A Robin Cancer Trust Charity Golf Day is being held at the Essex Golf and Country Club on July 14, with 24 places available.

The Trust will also be at the Jubilee Big Lick event at Sky Rooms on June 2.

Toby will be taking on a series of gruelling fundraising challenges himself. He, and friends, are taking part in a 1,000 mile bike ride around northern Europe in August, a sponsored distance swim at First Strokes swimming pool in Stanway and has signed up for the 2013 London Marathon For more information visit www.facebook.com/TheRobinCancerTrust
