Essex Police has not kept human limbs

HUMAN organs and limbs have been kept by police forces for decades rather than being returned to their families.

An audit co-ordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers revealed 492 significant body parts have been kept by police forces dating back to the 1960s.

Essex Police has not retained any but refused to disclose its policy regarding limbs and tissue retention. See the full story in Monday's Gazette.
