A MAN was attacked in his home leaving him unconscious.

The 57-year-old victim suffered head injuries after he was hit with a snooker ball in a sock at his house on Midway, Jaywick.

He was faced with his attacker after he was woken by a knock at the door.

The man, who he did not recognise, barged his way into the house and hit the victim with the weapon before punching him unconscious.

He had left by the time the victim woke up.

The attacker is described as white, 38 to 42 years old, 18 stone with a chubby face.

He had short black hair with a side parting.

The attack happened in the early hours of September 11.

Investigating officer, Pc James Stewart said: "There appears to be no motive for this attack and I urge anyone with any information that can help us to identify the man responsible to contact us."
