AN ACCOUNTANT inspired by his life-saving dad is taking on the ultimate cycling challenge.
Matthew Crocker, 35, of Alexander Terrace, Colchester, is cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise money for the Red Cross.
The chartered accountant, who works at Beaumont Seymour, wants to raise £1,000 for the charity, after being inspired by his dad, Clive, who volunteers as a first aider.
Mr Crocker said: “The Red Cross does some fantastic work and my dad has literally saved lives volunteering with it.
“It is always short of funds and I want to raise as much money as I can to help support the work it does.
“I’ve done the odd long-distance cycle ride before, maybe 200 miles at the most, but nothing like this. I’m really excited.”
Mr Crocker is setting off during the Easter weekend and is hoping to complete his mission in two weeks.
