Paula Whitney, from Friends of the Earth, lists what she does and doesn’t want in relation to the proposed High Street changes (Dec 10).
There are no constructive proposals as to how the shops are supposed to get deliveries to stock the very shops she wants the bus users and disabled to use.
People who don’t want the town to be busy should look at places like Dunstable, where they don’t have congestion problems as most of the shops are closed.
The town’s council is thinking up ways to make the centre busier, the very opposite of what we perceive to be are our problems.
With many traders trying to stay afloat in difficult times, the last thing we need is idealistic wish lists.
