THE body of a Colchester-based paratrooper killed in an apparent friendly-fire incident in Afghanistan has been repatriated to the UK.
New Zealander Private John "Jack" Howard died while on patrol in Helmand Province on December 5.
Pte Howard, 23, from the 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, was serving with 16 Air Assault Brigade's Reconnaissance Force on his second tour in Afghanistan.
Pte Howard's body was flown into RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire and after a private ceremony, the cortege passed through nearby Wootton Bassett where his family joined hundreds of onlookers paying their respects by lining the high street in tribute.
