CAMPAIGNERS fighting for the release of convicted killer Jeremy Bamber claim they have new evidence which proves his innocence.

Friends say two silencers, not one, were found at White House Farm in Tolleshunt D'Arcy, the scene of the murders of five members of Bamber's family.

And they claim evidence presented to Bamber's trial was a misleading amalgation of both silencers.

However, Bamber's cousin, David Boutflour, who told the Chelmsford Crown Court trial he had found a silencer three days after the killings, has rebutted the new claims.

And he said he is convinced Bamber is responsible for the murders.

Bamber has been in jail for 24 years after being convicted of the murders of his parents Neville and June, his six-year-old twin nephews Daniel and Nicholas and his sister Sheila Caffell.

He has protested his innocence from the outset and is currently awaiting a decision from the Criminial Cases Review Commission as to whether his case will be referred back to the Court of Appeal.
