YOUNGSTERS have been getting in the groove, thanks to lottery cash.
The All Faces Community Group has won a £9,000 grant from the National Lottery’s Awards For All scheme to host street dance classes at Hazelmere Junior School in Greenstead, Colchester.
The St Anne’s-based group has thrown the workshops open to any child or teenager.
The sessions are run by Soundproof and have been well attended so far.
They proved a hit when they were run two years ago, prompting All Faces co-ordinator Karen Allen to apply for funding to host a repeat.
Classes, from 6pm until 8pm, on Mondays and Fridays, will culminate with a week of daily sessions, followed by a performance for parents and teachers in July.
Mrs Allen said: “It’s been going really well and hopefully it will show people children are capable of doing something really positive.”
All Faces also organises horse-riding and self-defence sessions for children.
Anyone interested in getting involved with any of the initiatives should call Mrs Allen on 07878 307238.
