A SCHOOL has banned chocolate and crisps from lunchboxes and axed its tuckshop as part of a healthy eating drive, it was revealed today.
Whitmore Junior School in Basildon took the decision to ban high fat and sugar foods at school to improve the diets.
Headteacher Maureen Sealeaf said: "It is a continuation of our healthy eating policy. We have also made changes to our PE teaching and done away with our tuck shop to help the children eat more healthily.
"We are not saying children cannot eat crisps or eat chocolate, just not while in school. Already we are seeing children enjoying the variety in their lunches, and copying each other by eating healthy yoghurts or pieces of fruit. It is great."
