Border League side Kelvedon Football Club opened up their facilities to stage Chelmsford's City friendly for the second successive week, as again finding a pitch within the Borough of Chelmsford is proving to be a fruitless task for the City management.

City made changes from the previous week due to holidays and work commitments which saw Dawn Barnard, Debbie Watts and Karen Pushman step up from the reserves.

The visitors almost caught City napping on a couple of occasions but found skipper Elizabeth Marshall organising her defence well in her new central defensive role.

Up front for City, Julie Purdon and Emma Ridings saw chances go begging before both players found the net after 73 and 75 minutes respectively.

Chelmsford's opening Eastern Region League Premier Division fixture is away to newly promoted Pye Ladies, from Cambridge, on Sunday, September 5.

Chelmsford City Ladies Football Club are looking for more players to strengthen their teams for the forthcoming season, especially an experienced defender for the first team.

Anybody who may be interested in joining, or requires more details, is asked to telephone either Dawn Barnard on 01245 284377 or Roger Barnard on 07802 772573.
