Hockley residents opposed to the development of land at Etheldore Avenue are invited on a march through the town.

The rally on Saturday has been organised by young eco-warriors who have been squatting on the site at Etheldore Avenue and Wood Avenue in an attempt to delay the building of luxury homes.

This week a county court judge ordered 15-year-old Christiana Tugwell and her fellow protesters off the land currently owned by Rochford District Council.

Despite the setback they have organised the march and are encouraging other residents to join them in the protest.

The route will begin at the Spa pub and will go through Plumberow Avenue and take in the proposed site of the development.

It will end with a picnic at the top of Plumberow Mount at around midday.

More than 300 people have so far signed a petition set up by Christiana, calling for the council to reconsider their decision to allow the 66 luxury homes to be built on the site.
